Labor Day was first celebrated on Tuesday, September 5, 1882. It was created by the Central Labor Union of New York, and its purpose was to honor the American worker and create a day off for working citizens. In 1884, Labor Day was declared a federal holiday. Congress moved it to the first Monday in September, and designated it as a yearly tribute to the American Workers who have contributed so much to the strength, prosperity and well being of our country.

And last but certainly not least.. with an extra day off work means you can finally get to those house projects you’ve been putting off all summer.
Easy day-jobs include painting a room, organizing your closet, or getting ready for the fall weather that will soon be approaching, some can only hope.
Enjoy the last few days of summer weather by spending the night under the stars. Pack up the car for a weekend escape away to the city, to the beach, lake, or nearest campground away from the city lights so that you can bask in the glory of the clear beautiful night sky.
